Storm Windows
A much welcome improvement to any beach front property that would protect the occupants in the event of extreme weather. May they be second wooden window covers or strengthened glass ones that have polycarbonate inserts sandwiched in between two glass plates, they will break but not shatter protecting the contents and occupants form flying debris. Storms have become stronger and more unpredictable today and people have taken notice by making their homes tougher to withstand the harsh weather.
Most homes on beach fronts tend to suffer from flooding when the storm surge hits taking the sea water to new heights, often engulfing older houses. New houses have deep foundations that are buried deep and topped by concrete footings to make a solid foundation for the house which sits atop wooden piles that takes it above projected sea levels during storms. Damage from extreme events such as Katrina have left many areas in New Orleans in utter devastation that much of the houses and even City Hall have been washed away swept clear of their foundations.
